NEW WORLD CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER, WALNUT CREEK

Four (4) picnic tables were observed to be in disrepair and a missing plank was observed in the back fence of the play yard. Based on observation, the licensee did not comply with the section cited above which poses/posed a potential health, safety or personal rights risk to persons in care.

Per investigation there have been incidents where staff spoke to childen in a manner that was perceived as yelling and aggressive. Director also engaged in heated verbal exchanges with other staff members in the presence of children. Nature of incidents were not in a severe manner and posed a potential risk to safety of children.

Per investigation, an incident occurred where Director spoke to a child in front of parents, in a manner which was perceived as scolding and inappropriate verbal interaction. Nature of incident was not in a severe manner but posed a potential risk to safety of child in question.

Per LPA’s investigation, it was determined that staff yell at children making them anxious, intimidated, scared and sad. Children are removed from class and sent to the office as form of discipline for unknown duration of time.This is a violation of Personal Rights and an immediate risk to the health and safety of children in care.
