The purpose of the visit was to determine whether the lead water testing had been completed. During today’s visit, the LPA met the Director, Nico Mendoza. The director was informed of the reason for today's visit by the LPA. During today's visit, two toddlers and sixteen preschool-aged children were present in the center. Present in the center with fingerprint clearance included the director and two staff members. The center is operating within its capacity and in accordance with the required ratio of staff to children. During today’s interview with the director regarding lead water testing, it was discovered that the center had not yet completed the lead water testing. The LPA observed the director applying for a grant from the State of California website to address the issue. Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. LPA verified that the lead testing was not completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP. CCC did not complete testing prior to the deadline of 1/1/2023.
