LPA S.Brewer, toured the facility, took census of 15 children supervised by 3 staff and met with Early Childhood Specialist, Luz Romero, to further discuss lead results received and measures taken for remediation of lead exceedances. The facility had initial testing conducted at the school site on 04/15/2023 for the classroom outlets only. After further interview, observation and review of facility records it was determined that the facility kitchen outlets were overlooked in the initial testing conducted for potential lead exposure in water provided to children through food preparation and for consumption. During the inspection, LPA toured and obtained photos of the following water outlets identified with lead exceedances in Outlet B water faucet, 5.8 ppb, located in the school kitchen. LPA observed and obtained photos of required signage posted at Outlet B for cessation of use. The Facility implemented the following plan of action until formal remediation can be completed on water outlet and posted required signage for nonuse. The facility has submitted a work order with the school district and is in the process of repairing Outlet B, water faucet in the school site’s kitchen. Once repaired, the facility will schedule a retest on Outlet B. LPA did not observed notification of lead results posted at the facility. Photos also obtained of additional source for access to water in the classroom. As of 08/18/2023 the facility has provided the classrooms with 3-gallon bottled water jugs and paper cups for children to access and additional water for both indoor/outdoor activities is provided through tap water. The facility plans to use alternative methods for food preparation, outside of the Patricia Beatty School site’s kitchen, by temporarily preparing food for consumption at Riverside Unified School District - Nutrition Services, Address: 6050 Industrial Ave., Riverside, CA 92504. Due to facility water outlets testing above approved lead levels, a deficiency has been cited. See LIC809D.
