Based on observation, the licensee did not comply with the section cited above as licensee did not ensure a firearm was locked and inaccessible to children which poses an immediate safety risk to children in care. The firearm was located in between the mattress and bedframe in the off-limits bedroom without trigger locks. LPA observed the bedroom was not locked and firing pins were not removed. A civil penalty of $500 is being assessed and provided.
Resolution: Licensee placed the firearm in a locked safe in an area inaccessible to children in care during the visit.
