Upon arrival, LPAs met with licensee Joanne O'neil and proceeded to tour the facility. There were 12 children at the playground supervised by teachers Kayla Huezo and Jackielyn Deason. In the Sunflower's classroom there were 11 children supervised by teachers Karla Coronado, Naomia Arellano, and teacher aide Maria Ponce. Facility is within staffing ratio. All required notices, forms and license were posted. Furniture and age-appropriate equipment is in good condition. Rooms have adequate heating, lighting, ventilation and drinking water is available for the children. Storage cubbies are readily available, and room accommodates class size. Napping equipment consists of mats which are kept in classroom closet and each mat has its own sheet or covering. Bathrooms are maintained with operational toilets and faucets with appropriate temperature. Paper towels and toilet paper are available. Bathroom is lighted and has ventilation. Children brings their own lunch and snack to school. Food service area consists of a kitchen in the Sunflower's classroom which is clean and free of hazards. Cleaning supplies are kept out of reach of children. Outdoor play area is a fenced playground. There are multiple trees and tarp owning used for shade. Children brings their water bottles to the playground. LPA reviewed first aid supplies and reviewed medication policy and storage, all areas are within compliance. Isolation area is the Director's office. Personnel and client records were reviewed, and staff members have the required measles and pertussis immunization available for review. All staff members completed the online mandated reporter training. Reporting requirements was also reviewed. All personnel have the required criminal record and child abuse index clearances. LPA reviewed Emergency Disaster Plan and last fire drill was conducted on 07/12/2023. Facility has an operating carbon monoxide detector located in the Director's office. Facility has at least one staff member that has a valid EMSA approved CPR/FA when children are in care. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of “medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Director was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to childcare providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP.
